Smokey Brights

Smokey Brights are a rock and roll band based out of Seattle, WA, fronted by husband and wife songwriting duo Ryan Devlin and Kim West. Though eclectic, the music tends towards the anthemic rock sounds of the 1970’s. Known for their infectiously energetic and positive live performances, Smokey Brights were one of the first signees to powerhouse indie-label Freakout Records. Their music has been a recent favorite of college radio, and has been featured on NPR, MTV, and Skype. Impose Magazine has called Smokey Brights “A modern bit of AM radio gold.”

Nick Krivchenia (drums) provides the unparalleled grooves and precision that have been integral to Smokey Brights’ sound since its inception. Other founding members and longtime collaborators include Jim Vermillion (bass) and Mike Kalnoky (guitar). The band has most recently been touring as a four piece, with Devlin, West, and Krivchenia joined by Seattle multi-instrumentalist Luke Logan on bass.

On their newest effort, Come to Terms (Freakout Records), Smokey Brights have worked closely with British producer Sam Bell (R.E.M., Weezer, Minus the Bear) to capture their most crystallized batch of songs yet. Come to Terms contains songs about fresh divisions and the social chasms divisions leave behind. Divisive politics, broken hearts, and absent dialogues are all brought to the surface and socially exercised. Though it’s is an airing of grievances, Come to Terms is not a record of despair, but instead invites the listener to snap out of it, start moving, and to rise above. In the final track of the record, The Other Way, West and Devlin sing, “This is not the time to turn your back on what you see. Find the strength in you, and I will find the good in me.” Smokey Brights will be touring extensively in 2018 in support of Come to Terms, with a new Sam Bell produced EP in the works.

Cave Clove

Katie Colver of Cave Clove is total party animal, and she is also a serious student of shamanism. Her music finds a perfect expression of this anomaly, pulled in one direction towards her passion for life yet constantly faced with the darkness that is all too familiar to someone who feels so deeply. The band’s musical inspirations are no less complicated, embracing elements of Laurel Canyon rock alongside nineties grunge and r&b. Cave Clove invites you to navigate the space between on their latest self-titled LP recorded at Tiny Telephone studios with co-producers Courtney Fairchild and Beau Sorenson (Death Cab for Cutie / Bob Mould / Thao & the Get Down Stay Down).
